I am always torn, coming from some beautiful unspoiled part of the world, between telling everybody about it and keeping it to myself. It's like Sagada, and the coming of the Road. That's another place that has lost its soul.

Some time in 2004, I think. Sagada has become a tourist conveyor belt. Everybody is so businesslike now. There are a lot of new faces. The locals I know have either left or have probably gone into hiding.

If busloads of camera-toting tourists got dumped in your backyard almost every day, you would lose your soul (and sanity), too.

I feel, that we as tourist should assimilate when we travel, not bother.
But how do you teach that, when at home many do not teach it.
I don't know...i've always put myself in visitor mode and act accordingly when i go to a new place.
But some folks don't even know how to act like good visitors or guests.

It is sad indeed. And it is hard to find a balance with preserving and the temptation of tourism money.
